Best Strategy to exploit and level Up to Level 20 Without Spending any money or lucky eggs (Part 1)

Previously, in our previous post previous post, we shared on the importance of leveling up to Level 20 as soon as possible. Today we shall shared on how do we do that, to ensure we stay ahead of the rat race.

1. Never underestimate PokeStop and Public Transport (Secret of PokeStop)

Each Pokestop is worth 50 XP. In the early game, it really means a lot. Continuously swipe them when you walk past them. The best timing to swipe PokeStop is when you take public transport or in a car. It not only clock you the extra 50XP and it also clocked you the distance required to hatch a egg.(as long as your speed is 30km/hr or less). 30km/h seems super slow and impossible to clock in a vehicle but it is made possible in heavy traffic or nearing traffic lights.

Lastly who knows you might get lucky. Do you know that PokeStop that churns out more than 6 Items will clocked you a extra 50XP, that makes it 100XP. And the best part i observed is that some PokeStop has a higher frequency of doing that. I got a secret Pokestop that regularly churned me more than 6 items in Tiong Bahru estate area.

2. Catch and evolve all the Pidgey, Weedle and Caterpie and not the rest for levelling

Seriously, please do so. There is a reason why i request for you to do so because Pidgey, Weedle and Caterpie only require 12 candies to evolve. As evolving a Pokemon is of the activities that provide you the most XP, 500XP, you need to evolve a lot to level up fast. And trust me, do not evolve anything yet except for rattata as it is crucial for our strategy <level 20 and above leveling guide> when we are going to do a quick level from Level 20 to Level 25.

3. Catching more Pokemon is important, but how you catch it also matter

Don't stop catching, cause you it grant you 100 XP for every Pokemon you catch. But catching is not everything, you have to aim at the circle when it becomes smaller to get the Nice 10 XP, Great 50 XP or Excellent bonus 100XP.

On top of that, don't forget to spin the ball in either a clockwise or anticlock direction to add a curve ball bonus, 10 XP.

Usually, Great ball is still not that hard to achieve and when we sum up, this will grant you 100 XP + 50 XP + 10 XP for every Pokemon you catch. This really goes a long way.

But if you are really lucky..... ;)

4. Where you position yourself really matters

There is a saying that to succeed, "you have to be at the right place and right time." Hey i totally agreed with that. Where you position yourself when catching your pokemon really matters. Usually i will find a good spot to camp when having my meals or meeting friends which have at least 2 to 3 Pokestop to not only swipe Pokestop to gain that precious 50 XP, but also to catch more Pokemon.Just by catching Pokemon, i could level up easily in matter of an hour when i was Level 18.

Areas with at least 3 lures around you are ideal locations. You can easily find such areas such as ION, JEM and other crowded shopping malls.

5. Don't be afraid to Challenge the Gym

Always take a look at nearby gym from time to time even if your level is not there yet because they could also be a interval when a gym is left vacant and you can go in to make it yourself, claiming that valuable, 500 XP of defender bonus and 10 Poke Coins, hint hint for Lucky egg. :)

Also even if it is not vacant, you can still challenge from time to time to gain that extra XP. Not all Pokemon being fielded in gyms are strong. You might get lucky with a if quick 100XP or 200XP.
